Graphic that reads "important announcement from the Jess for Portland team". There is a photo of Jess's yard sign in a grassy lawn.

It is with great sadness that I have decided to suspend my campaign. Upon reflection, although we qualified for the ballot and I am almost qualified for clean elections, I need to take some more time before I embark on another grueling campaign.

I care deeply about everyone who lives in this city and everyone I have met throughout both campaigns and my time living here. As I’ve gotten to know so many of you, that care has only grown stronger.

Thank you to everyone who supported, challenged, encouraged, and believed in this campaign.
While this chapter is coming to a close, my commitment to a Portland where every person feels safe, heard, seen, and cared for remains unchanged.

I have always believed that while municipal government has a responsibility to care for its residents, we also have a responsibility to care for the people who choose to serve our communities. That belief remains as strong today as ever.

I look forward to a future chapter where all of us can continue working together to build the Portland we have been fighting for.

In solidarity,
Jess Falero
